I just recently received this as a gift after about five years of pining over it so, needless to say I pretty obsessed with this watch. The single handed reason I like this watch over any other is because it was a no fuss easy to read watch designed to be easily removable from the band which is HUGE. I am one to feel like I couldn't wear a distinctively black watch when I'm wearing all brown, but than that leaves some watches I can't wear on certain days. I KNOW this is REALLY dumb just only own metal tone watches problem solved. I agree but I just can not restrain myself in that way. I digress.
Anyway, as Mies would say "God is in the details," The watch is all about the time and nothing else. Pure in form striped of all traditional ornament from the recessed crown (pin on the side of the watch used to adjust the time) to the disappearing act that is the bezel (metal ring around the crystal or face of the watch) which allows for a large face on a appropriate sized watch, making the time even easier to read and focus in on. I believe that it was the contribution of Swiss graphic designer Max Huber that kept all the numbers facing in word as they march around the face another minor design choice that keeps the face all about time. Ultimately it was the ease of changing the band from black leather to brown leather that swayed me for any others. In a wise move by the designers they designed this to be make with an inexpensive quartz movement that kept the price in the $100 range making it great design accessible to the masses.
